Cellulose
insulation and especially Climatizer Plus do not burn they only
smoulder. When the insulation surface is exposed to fire, a
sooty layer of charcoal will be created on the top surface. This layer
prevents the fire from expanding. Of course, the boric salts play a
positive role; they contain water in crystallised form. This water in
the insulation is gradually released and when heated and cools the
surface. As the surface become hotter from a continuing flame, the
borax forms a glassy substance, which inhibits the fire expansion and
slows the fire penetration. Thanks to these properties the fire
resistance of the constructions filled with Climatizer has a similar
fire resistance as products containing mineral fabrics.
